About Me

Hello! I’m Allison Breuler, a passionate student at the Cleveland Institute of Art, currently pursuing a degree in Medical Illustration. My love for both art and science has always been a driving force in my life, and this degree allows me to combine these two interests in a way that fuels my creativity and curiosity. Throughout my artistic journey, I’ve explored a wide variety of mediums, including oil paint, watercolor, graphite, clay, and ink. I’ve also ventured into digital art using tools like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, as well as experimented with traditional techniques like carbon dust, blacksmithing, and woodworking. Each medium has offered me unique opportunities for expression and growth. My ultimate goal is to build a successful career in medical illustration, a field that not only excites me but also represents the intersection of my passions. I’m eager to continue growing both as an artist and as a person, always striving to create meaningful and impactful work.

What I'm Currently Doing

I am currently pursuing my degree by attending classes at the Cleveland Institute of Art and Case Western Reserve University. My studies have included hands-on experience with dissection, specifically focusing on the anatomy of the brain and heart. Soon, I will be attending a class where I’ll study human anatomy using cadavers. In my spare time, I enjoy painting landscapes, which allows me to explore my love for traditional art. I’m also expanding my skills in digital illustration, specifically in Adobe products, learning new techniques to blend traditional art forms with modern tools. Additionally, I am working on micro projects to break down larger subjects such as cells, arteries, and the inner workings of bones. I’m also studying animals and plants to deepen my understanding of botanical and veterinary illustration. I am actively searching for internship opportunities in my field to gain further experience and apply my skills in a professional setting.

Work Experience

Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to create custom logos for three different small businesses, helping them establish their brand identities. Additionally, I partnered with a website designer to develop a website for one of these businesses, further expanding my skills in digital design. I was also asked to create a series of artworks for a short film produced by a student at Cleveland State University who was pursuing a passion for filmmaking. This project allowed me to explore how visual art can enhance storytelling in film. These experiences have provided me with valuable insights and allowed me to apply my creativity to a variety of real-world projects.

Awards & Recognition

I’m grateful for the support and recognition I’ve received throughout my journey. Here are a few highlights that fuel my passion for creativity: Over the years, I’ve participated in various contests and art shows to showcase my abilities and grow as an artist. One of my achievements was winning Best in Show at my school's ARTastic Fest. I was honored with a ribbon and scholarship from the superintendent and given the opportunity to present my artwork to the public. In addition, I received the Scholastic Gold Key Award for my piece “Melt.” Along with the Gold Key, I earned a Silver Key and an Honorable Mention for two other pieces I entered. These accomplishments are just the beginning, and I am excited to continue sharing my journey with you. Watch as I continue to grow, succeed, and make my mark in the world of art and medical illustration.
